Concerns Expressed Over Potential Federal Fisheries Act Changes
Several groups including Canadian Aquatic Resources Section (CARS) of the American Fisheries Society have written the Fisheries Minister expressing concerns over potential Fisheries Act changes. On March 16, 2012 the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans issued a Ministerial Statement regarding the current review.
Trout Unlimited Canada, Scientists for Species and CNGO Collaborative have also sent letters. The Collaborative is a working committee of National and Regional CNGO’s involved in habitat work across Canada. They include the Atlantic Salmon Federation, Canadian Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited Canada, National Watershed Stewardship Coalition, Pacific Salmon Foundation, Trout Unlimited Canada and Wildlife Habitat Canada.
